Tonfa
In Kobudo and traditional Karate, a weapon is not merely an accessory—it is a functional extension of your body. Off-the-shelf, mass-produced tonfa frequently suffer from generic handle angles, awkward balance points, and lengths that leave your forearm unprotected or impede elbow articulation.
At Kobudo Studio, every pair of wooden tonfa is handcrafted from scratch and built to match your personal body mechanics. Whether executing snap strikes (ura-ken), high-velocity spins, or solid structural blocks, our tonfa deliver the balance and tactile security needed for true martial mastery.
An improperly sized tonfa can lead to wrist fatigue or strike impact injuries. To ensure an exacting fit, every pair is made to order using three fundamental hand and arm dimensions:
- Forearm Length: Ensures the main body extends past the elbow just enough to guard the joint without catching on sleeves or ribs during rotational strikes.
- Palm Width (Open Hand): Establishes the exact distance and transition clearance around the handle.
- Palm Width (Closed Grip): Sets the handle girth and ergonomic taper so your fingers lock securely without forearm strain.
